以军称已开始在加沙新一轮大规模攻势
以色列国防军说，以军在过去24小时已开始在加沙地带多处区域展开大规模空袭并调动地面部队，以实现对关键作战区域的控制，为进一步扩大军事行动做准备。
新华社报道，以色列国防军星期五（5月16日）晚上发表声明称，新攻势旨在实现战争的所有目标，包括解救所有被扣押人员和彻底击败哈马斯。
《以色列时报》引述以色列官员的话报道，新攻势的核心目标包括对加沙地带实施全面军事控制并保留对地带的持续占领，将巴勒斯坦平民向加沙地带南部转移，全面打击哈马斯并防止哈马斯接管或劫持人道援助物资。
以军当天稍早时说，以空军星期四（15日）至星期五打击加沙地带超过150个目标，其中包括“反坦克导弹发射阵地、军事建筑和武装人员作战中心”等。
