与特朗普关系密切的美国蒙大拿州共和党参议员戴恩斯(Steve Daines)将于星期六(3月22日)访华期间会见一名中国高级别领导人,由此成为美国总统特朗普重返白宫以来,首位与中国高官会面的美国政界人士,时逢中美两大经济体尝试推进受阻于较低级别的贸易对话。

彭博社星期四(20日)报道上述消息。戴恩斯上周在社交媒体上宣布了即将访华的消息;他此前不久才在白宫椭圆形办公室与特朗普会面。

戴恩斯表示,特朗普“很高兴我将贯彻他的‘美国优先’议程”。当前,美国的关税行动导致美中对彼此日渐沮丧,双方官员各执一词,未能就最佳前进方式达成一致。

法国外贸银行(Natixis)亚太区首席经济学家埃雷罗(Alicia Garcia Herrero)指出:“戴恩斯访华是一种在幕后谈判的方式。”

她续指:“特朗普希望达成协议,以便为美国重新工业化赢得时间。而中国希望达成协议,因为出口受到的影响将对中国经济造成巨大冲击。市场,尤其是美国市场,无法承受更多的关税。”

Spiking bond yields driving sharp losses in tech stocks

A spike in interest rates since the start of the year has accelerated a rotation out of high-growth technology stocks and into value stocks poised to benefit from a reopening of the economy. The Nasdaq has fallen more than 10% over the past month as the Dow has soared to record highs, with a spike in the 10-year US Treasury yield acting as the main catalyst. It recently surged to a cycle high of more than 1.60% after starting the year below 1%. But according to Jim Paulsen, the Leuthold Group's chief investment strategist, rising interest rates do not represent a long-term threat to the stock market. Paulsen expects the 10-year yield to cross 2% by the end of the year. A spike in interest rates and its impact on the stock market depends on the economic backdrop, according to Paulsen. Rising interest rates amid a strengthening economy "may prove no challenge at all for stocks," Paulsen said.

The lead from Wall Street offers little clarity as the major averages opened lower on Friday and then bounced back and forth across the unchanged line, finally finishing mixed and little changed.The Dow added 33.18 points or 0.10 percent to finish at 34,798.00, while the NASDAQ eased 4.54 points or 0.03 percent to close at 15,047.70 and the S&P 500 rose 6.50 points or 0.15 percent to end at 4,455.48. For the week, the Dow rose 0.6 percent, the NASDAQ added 0.1 percent and the S&P gained 0.5 percent.The lackluster performance on Wall Street came on uncertainty about the outlook for the markets following recent volatility.
