以色列国防部总干事埃亚勒·扎米尔2月1日被提名为国防军下任总参谋长，接替已提交辞呈的哈莱维。
总理内塔尼亚胡和国防部长卡茨已同意任命。根据以色列法律，以军总参谋长人选必须先通过高级任命咨询委员会的审查，然后再由内阁投票确认。
哈莱维当天对扎米尔表示祝贺，并表示将在接下来的数周内完成“专业且高质量”的交接工作。
扎米尔曾担任以军副总参谋长、南部军区司令和总理军事秘书。扎米尔自2023年起担任国防部总干事，主要负责国际防务合作与建设。
