LG杯世界围棋棋王战决赛存在争议，中国棋手柯洁弃赛，韩国棋手卞相壹得冠。
韩国棋院2024年年底修改规则，棋手不把提掉的“死子”放在棋盒盖上会被警告并被罚两目，而被警告两次就会被判负。
柯洁22日两次未将“死子”放在棋盒盖中，先是被罚两目，后被判定第二次违规，直接判负。中国代表团申诉无果。
柯洁23日再因未将“死子”放入棋盒盖，之后裁判在轮到卞相壹落子时暂停比赛。柯洁认为，这将大幅增加卞相壹思考时间，要求卞相壹落子后再暂停。裁判组未采纳该意见。
经过较长时间的沟通，裁判组表示柯洁要被罚两目再继续比赛。柯洁不接受判罚结果离场，组委会宣布卞相壹弃权胜。
中国围棋协会随后发布声明，经向主办方韩国棋院申诉，申请重赛无果，协会不接受本届LG杯第三局结果。
