中共解放军10月14日清晨通告：当天组织东部战区陆军、海军、空军、火箭军等兵力，位台湾海峡、台岛北部、台岛南部、台岛以东，开展“联合利剑-2024B”演习，舰机多向抵近台岛，诸军兵种联合突击，重点演练海空战备警巡、要港要域封控、对海对陆打击、夺取综合制权等科目，检验战区部队联合作战实战能力。演习的结束时间不详。
台湾，国防部强烈谴责不理性挑衅行径，已派出适切兵力应对，强调双十演说关于两岸都是正面积极主张。
10月13日，基隆市长谢国樑（国民党籍）罢免案举行投票，选民总数310797，同意罢免69934，不同意罢免86014，罢免不通过。

The global forecast for the Asian markets is murky following recent volatility, with crude oil prices providing support in what has been an otherwise tough month. The European markets were down and the U.S. bourses were mixed and flat and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.The TSE finished modestly lower on Friday following losses from the financial shares and property stocks.For the day, the index sank 15.09 points or 0.49 percent to finish at 3,061.35 after trading between 3,057.84 and 3,089.78. Volume was 1.39 billion shares worth 1.30 billion Singapore dollars. There were 285 decliners and 184 gainers.
