๐น๐ญ๐ฐ๐ญ - Note, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, JGSDF, enjoy a very close relationship with Thailand's Armed Forces, TAF. Most of the country of Thailand is heavily influenced by the different branches within the TAF.
On the other hand, former Cambodian Prime Minister and current President of the Senate, Hun Sen, has formed a close relationship with China's Xi Jinping.
In the early 2000s then-Thailand's Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra led a war on drugs killing hundreds (allegedly). As a result, In 2006 he was ousted in a coup and spent 15 years in exile. Cambodia's Hu Sen provided him with a platform in his country to meet with allies from Thailand. For much of his time in exile, especially in Cambodia, he was accompanied by his daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra, current Thai Prime Minister. Hence the close relationship between Paetongtarn and Hu Sen.
After the recent clashes that led to the death of a Cambodian soldier, Paetongtarn criticized her own Thai general in a leaked phone call with Hu Sen. In the phone call, she referred to Sen as "uncle".
Bhumjaithai Party formed a coalition with Paetongtarn Shinawatra last year to govern Thailand, pushing for an end on the war on drugs started by Thaksin 20 years earlier. Several laws, including the legalization of marijuana were passed. Bhumjaithai Party have withdrawn from the coalition, and it is therefore likely those laws will now be reversed.
Earlier today, Hu Sen blasted Thaksin for attempting to "influence" and "change" the leadership in Bangkok, even after Sen had provided Thaksin a base for political activities in his country during Thaksin's 15 years of exile.
