哥斯達黎加總統府證實，國家情報安全局（DIS）上月派遣5名官員前往台灣，接受為期23日的情報培訓課程，同時招商部門派員訪問台灣，尋求半導體的投資合作。
哥斯達黎加是中美洲首個和中國建交的國家，但多年來，中國建交時的貿易投資承諾不只從未兌現，甚至在2011年和中國簽訂自由貿易協定（FTA）後，貿易逆差反而更加擴大，而2022年來自中國的投資僅佔哥斯達黎加外國直接投資（FDI）總額的0.05%，可謂微乎其微。
