自上周有傳媒報道申訴專員公署下架大量資料後，不少立法會議員連日來也有發表意見表達不滿。不過港媒《明報》周四（22日）報道，近日有人向多名議員了解他們對申訴專員公署事件的看法、問及他們的關注。有議員稱被呼籲要理解公署面對的困難，提示不宜再「跟進」或「評論」事件，避免再在輿論上發酵。有議員原本打算就事件撰寫評論文章，亦要擱筆。
報道又指出，多名議員周三（21日）拒絕再就事件接受訪問，有議員承認收到「封口令」，亦有議員分析今次公署文件下架並非重大事件，但眼見社會討論未見「降溫跡象」，估計有人憂慮爭議發酵，因而「出手」冀平息事件。
