✒وذلك لأنه بعد محاصرة معسكر الإمام الحسين (ع) جاء كتاب ابن زياد (لع) إلى عمر بن سعد (لع) ان ضيّق على الحسين (ع) وصحبه، وامنعهم الماء وكان ذلك في السابع من محرم، فاشتد العطش بالحسين (ع) وبمن معه، فأمر ابا الفضل العباس (ع) بأن يأتي بالماء ومعه ثلاثين فارساً وعشرين راجلاً معهم قرب، فذهبوا إلى المشرعة وجالدهم العباس (ع) ومن معه، حتى ازالوهم عنها، واقتحم الرّجالة فملؤوا القرب، ووقف العباس وأصحابه يذبون عنهم حتى وصل الماء عسكر الحسين (ع)؛ لذلك لقب العباس بالسقاء.
