🇨🇦 加拿大香港監察參加Hong Kong Pathway審批滯後研討會與近200人同慶加拿大國慶日

6月28日（星期六），加拿大香港監察出席多倫多香港人社區中心活動，參與「Hong Kong Pathway」申請積壓問題研討會，並與近200名參加者一起慶祝加拿大國慶日。

研討會由香港監察信託董事會主席兼多倫多香港人社區中心董事Aileen Calverley主持，並邀請到三位加拿大國會議員──香港監察贊助人Shuvaloy Majumdar MP、公民及移民常務委員會委員Michael Ma MP和Vincent Ho MP出席。

三位議員與「Hong Kong Pathway」申請人交流，親身了解申請人因永久居留及開放式工作簽證申請審批滯後而面對的難題。他們承諾向加拿大政府提出相關個案，並要求移民部積極應對申請持續積壓問題。Aileen Calverley則分享與總理辦公室移民政策顧問探討可能解決方法的進展，包括將經濟類別的移民目標配額撥給「Hong Kong Pathway」。

Telegram auto-delete message, expiring invites, and more

elegram is updating its messaging app with options for auto-deleting messages, expiring invite links, and new unlimited groups, the company shared in a blog post. Much like Signal, Telegram received a burst of new users in the confusion over WhatsApp’s privacy policy and now the company is adopting features that were already part of its competitors’ apps, features which offer more security and privacy. Auto-deleting messages were already possible in Telegram’s encrypted Secret Chats, but this new update for iOS and Android adds the option to make messages disappear in any kind of chat. Auto-delete can be enabled inside of chats, and set to delete either 24 hours or seven days after messages are sent. Auto-delete won’t remove every message though; if a message was sent before the feature was turned on, it’ll stick around. Telegram’s competitors have had similar features: WhatsApp introduced a feature in 2020 and Signal has had disappearing messages since at least 2016.

I have no inside knowledge of a potential stock listing of the popular anti-Whatsapp messaging app, Telegram. But I know this much, judging by most people I talk to, especially crypto investors, if Telegram ever went public, people would gobble it up. I know I would. I’m waiting for it. So is Sergei Sergienko, who claims he owns $800,000 of Telegram’s pre-initial coin offering (ICO) tokens. “If Telegram does a SPAC IPO, there would be demand for this issue. It would probably outstrip the interest we saw during the ICO. Why? Because as of right now Telegram looks like a liberal application that can accept anyone - right after WhatsApp and others have turn on the censorship,” he says.
