Skull & Bones تقریبا هشت سال در دست ساخت بوده و تاکنون ۱۲۰ میلیون دلار خرج روی دست یوبیسافت گذاشته و این رقم همچنان در حال بیشتر شدن است. همچنین گفته می‌شود که این بازی در ابتدا قرار بوده نوعی بخش چندنفره برای Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag باشد و به‌صورت بسته‌ی الحاقی به این بازی اضافه شود.
