据华尔街日报，苹果和马斯克的SpaceX正在争夺供应有限的频谱使用权。据称苹果的外太空投资激怒了马斯克。报道称，SpaceX已敦促监管机构叫停一项由苹果出资的卫星扩张项目。SpaceX和T-Mobile最近曾与苹果达成协议，将在新款iPhone上提供卫星移动电话服务。苹果和SpaceX的高管谈过iPhone与SpaceX卫星直接连接，但最终未达成交易。苹果已研究投资EchoStar以提供更多卫星和频谱来支持iPhone连接。
