在经历了286天计划外太空任务后，NASA宇航员布奇·威尔莫尔和苏尼·威廉姆斯于本周二结束创纪录的9个月太空滞留，搭乘SpaceX龙飞船安全降落在墨西哥湾。NASA连续推迟返回时间表，最终选择切换到SpaceX作为救援方案。考虑到本周晚些时候的不稳定天气，NASA提前让他们启程。
两位宇航员的太空飞行历程创造多项记录：累计行程1.95亿公里（1.21亿英里），完成4,576次地球轨道运行，威廉姆斯更以62小时太空行走刷新女宇航员累计时长记录。在延长期内，他们转型为正式空间站成员，承担设备维修、科学实验等任务，威廉姆斯还担任过空间站指挥官。
