北京时间3月19日，在中非共和国发生一起针对中资民营企业的武装袭击事件，迄已造成中国公民9人死亡、2人重伤。习近平总书记对此高度重视并作出重要指示，要求全力救治伤员，及时做好善后，依法严惩凶手，确保中国公民安全。
最初被广泛怀疑策划了袭击事件的叛军联盟随后发表一份声明，在未提供证据的情况下指控俄罗斯雇佣兵组织瓦格纳集团应为此次事件负责。
