Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

The light of wisdom is the knowledge which the slave by it, distinguishes between truth and falsehood, Guidance and misguidance, Harm and benefit, Perfection and deficiency, Good and evil, It enlightens by it the stages of actions, The one which is probably more correct and the one which is probably less correct, the accepted and the rejected. Whenever the portion from this light is strong, then the portion of self scrutiny would be more complete and perfect.
