The doctoral project at the Department of Architecture, University of Naples Federico II (research project DC4) is part of the response to the second objective, ‘Value of the building that lasts’. Using quantum concepts, this project will study how location features are affecting the value of a building, specifically with respect to climate change. Following, this project will study the potential of buildings being adaptively reused, maintaining their use and avoiding vacancy (and obsolescence), and building and location features affecting value depreciation or increase. A particularly relevant issue is whether adaptable buildings depreciate at a slower rate than less adaptable buildings in locations that are affected by climate change. Another question is which locations would be more favourable for adaptable developments or extending building lifespan and which locations would be favourable for demountable or shorter lifespan buildings.

A major hurdle is gathering sufficient contact information on the robot's surface when the skin covers large, curved body areas with only a limited number of embedded sensors.The important contact information, such as contact area, direction, pressure distribution, even slip incipient, is often not directly measurable. Instead, this information must be estimated from sensor signals produced by the mechanical model of the skin during contact. Advancing our understanding of this mechanical contact information processing is crucial for enhancing the feasibility and value of robotic skin technologies.

Speech processing and reading are essential unique human abilities underpinning social, educational, and professional advancement. However early biomarkers of speech processing deficits that have been documented in reading disabilities such as Developmental Dyslexia (DD) have yet to be identified. Here, we will explore whether the cortical tracking of speech (CTS) - the temporal alignment between fluctuations in the speech signal and fluctuations in electrical brain activity – can predict later reading deficits in DD. Cutting edge neuroimaging tools, carefully designed tasks, and longitudinal designs will be used to record CTS. Specifically, we will investigate whether CTS at an early age in speech processing and reading development (preschool years) can help detect early DD risks by predicting the children who will be diagnosed with DD later on (Grade 2 of primary school).
