The city hall and musuem in Lichtenburg was set on fire last night.
The Ampie Bosman Cultural History Museum was destroyed. The museum contained irreplaceable and unique documents and historical objects: letters handwritten by General De la Rey, original writings by Siener van Rensburg. There was prisoner of war art, various Voortrekker items and the large bronze statue of General De La Rey made by Anton van Wouw.

โก๏ธ๐ข Karpowership Wins Environment Permit for South African Power Plant
Karpowership won environmental authorization for one of three ship-mounted power plants it wants to connect to the South African grid, a key step in fulfilling a contract it won more than two years ago.
The Turkish company said the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment gave it permission to go ahead with the installation of a 450-megawatt gas-fired plant in the northeastern port of Richards Bay.
While the company must still complete its agreements with the national ports company before it can proceed, its environmental authorization applications have been the subject of a number of legal challenges from environmental activists. It has also applied to install a 450 MW plant in the southern port of Ngqura and a 320 MW plant in the western port of Saldanha.

South Africa on Monday called for the United Nations to deploy a rapid protection force to protect civilians in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza from further bombardment as Israel steps up its retaliation for a deadly attack by militant group Hamas.
"Entire generations of families have been wiped out in Gaza over the last three weeks," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
"The numbers of non-combatants killed, especially the numbers of children killed, requires that the world to show that it is serious about global accountability," the statement added.

The police were forced to intervene in Riverlea, south of Johannesburg, where illegal miners engaged in a gunfight in the streets that left six members of rival gangs dead.
This was not the first time zama-zamas have been involved in violence and gun battles in Gauteng.

The Logistics Group has built a port facility in South Africa that will enable increased volumes of a key battery metal to be offloaded from one of the worldโs longest freight trains for export as the country struggles with a lack of rail capacity, according to its chief executive officer.
Volumes transported across the continentโs most industrialized nation by state-owned port and rail operator Transnet SOC have declined over recent years due to corruption, mismanagement and a shortage of locomotives.

The Orania Veiligheidsdienste (OVD) Task Force and Reaction Teams responded to an incident of criminals attempting to steal copper cables from irrigation equipment on a nearby farm.
The criminals were arrested and taken away to a neighbouring town's police station. According to the police, the three arrested were known suspects that the police were searching for.
๐ The OVD consists of a combination of professional and voluntary members, some of whom receive specialist training for their task force. They use drones, dogs, night vision equipment and CCTV cameras deployed on farms around Orania to survey the area and protect their borders 24/7.

An employee of the Sibanye Stillwater mine near Johannesburg stabbed his colleague to death before disemboweling him. Before leaving the crime scene, the perpetrator took a selfie with the intestines of his dead colleague.
Sibanye-Stillwater spokesperson James Wellsted confirmed that the two men are employees at the mining company.
โI can just confirm that they are our employees. It was outside of our operations. It has nothing to do with the company. It was a personal matter between two people who work there."
