నేను ఓ హోటల్‌కు కి వెళ్లి మెనూను పరిశీలించి ఫుడ్ ఆర్డర్ ఇచ్చాను. ఇరవై నిమిషాల తర్వాత కొంతమంది హోటల్‌లోకి వచ్చి తమ ఆర్డర్ ఇచ్చారు. ఆశ్చర్యకరంగా, వారికి నా కంటే ముందే భోజనం వడ్డించబడింది. వారు ఆనందంగా భోజనం చేస్తూ, నవ్వుతూ, హోటల్ వారితో తమ పరిచయాల గురించి గొప్పగా చెప్పుకుంటుండగా, నేను అవమానితుడిగా భావించాను. కోపంతో హోటల్‌ను వదిలి వెళ్లాలని అనుకున్నాను. ఆ పరిస్థితిని తట్టుకోలేక, వేటర్ను పిలిచాను.
అతను ఓపికగా, శాంతంగా చెప్పాడు:
“మీ ఆర్డర్ మాకు ప్రత్యేకమైనది. మాస్టర్ చెఫ్ స్వయంగా దీన్ని సిద్ధం చేస్తున్నారు. వారి ఆర్డర్ సాధారణ ఐటమ్స్ మాత్రమే. శిక్షణలో ఉన్న విద్యార్థులు త్వరగా తయారు చేసి వడ్డించారు. అందుకే వారికి ముందుగా సర్వ్ చేయబడింది. దయచేసి ఈ జ్యూస్ తాగుతూ కాసేపు వేచిచూడండి.”
ఆ మాటలు విన్నాక నా మనసు శాంతించింది. కొద్దిసేపటికి, ఆరు మంది వేటర్లు, మాస్టర్ చెఫ్ కలిసి నా భోజనాన్ని వడ్డించారు. ఆశ్చర్యకరంగా, హోటల్ యజమాని—నా చిన్ననాటి స్నేహితుడు—నన్ను గుర్తించి, నా సాధారణ ఆర్డర్‌ను vvip ఆర్డర్ గా మార్చించాడు. క్షణం క్రితం నన్ను తక్కువగా చూసిన వారు ఇప్పుడు నిశ్శబ్దంగా, ఆశ్చర్యంతో నా వైపు చూస్తూ ఉండిపోయారు.
జీవితం కూడా ఇలాగే ఉంటుంది. కొందరు ముందుగా విజయాన్ని అందుకుంటారు, ఆనందంగా గడుపుతారు, తమ సంపద, పరిచయాలు, తెలివి గురించి గొప్పగా చెప్పుకుంటారు. మీరు మాత్రం ఎదురు చూస్తూ, ఎందుకు ఆలస్యమవుతోందో ఆశ్చర్యపడుతూ ఉండవచ్చు. బహుశా ఈ నిరీక్షణలో అనేక అవమానాలు, మానసిక ఒత్తిళ్లు అనుభవించి ఉండవచ్చు.
