๐Ÿ’ฅ"He is with you wherever you are ; and Allah sees what you do"โ€ผ๏ธ

[The Qur'an C. 57 | A.4]

๐Ÿ’  Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim (may Allฤh have mercy upon him) said;

๐Ÿ’Ž โ€œThe best of those who fast are the ones who are more plentiful in the (legislated) dhikr (remembrance) of Allฤh, the Mighty and Majestic, during their fast!"๐Ÿ’ฅ

[Al-Wฤbil As-Sayyib 104]
๐Ÿ’ข Ibn Rajab reported: Some of the righteous predecessors were asked,

๐Ÿ’ขโ€œWhy has fasting been instituted?โ€

๐Ÿ’ข They said,

๐Ÿ’ขโ€œThat the rich will taste hunger and thus will not forget the hungry.โ€

[Latฬฃaฬ„สผif al-Maสปaฬ„rif 1/168]
Eating to Fast [not Fasting to Eat]:

๐Ÿ”ฐIt is reported that once, some good food was served to Anas [Ibn Mฤlik] โ€“ Allฤh be pleased with him, and [the person who served the food] was well off enough to afford good food. As he was eating, he kept a morsel of the food in his mouth for a while, then looked at the people and began to cry.

๐Ÿ’ข Then he said, โ€œBy Allฤh, I have accompanied people who, if they could get hold of this kind of food, would have fasted even more often, and spent less time not fasting.

One of them would find only milk mixed with water [as food], which he would drink and then fast on.โ€

[Al-Muโ€™ฤfฤ b. โ€˜Imrฤn, Kitฤb Al-Zuhd article 215]

๐ŸŽคlet's count the enormous blessings from Allah subhanahu wa taala during the month of Ramadan, Alhamdulillah many of us provided good provisions yet we show our gratitude to Allah very little!
โœ๏ธIt was narrated from Talhah bin `Ubaidullah (Rady'Allahu anhu) that Two men came to the Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) and they both became Muslim, but one of them strove harder in worship than his companion.

๐Ÿ’ขThe one who strove hard in worship went out on a military campaign and was martyred. The other one remained for a year after that, then he died. Talhah (Rady'Allahu anhu) said:

๐Ÿ’ฅโ€œI saw in a dream that I was at the gate of Paradise, and I saw them both. Someone had come out from Paradise and he gave permission to the one who died last (to enter); then he came out and gave permission to the one who had been martyred. Then they both came back to me and said to me: Go back, for your time has not yet come.โ€

The next morning, Talhah (Rady'Allahu anhu) told the people about that and they were amazed by it. News of that reached the Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) and he said:

๐Ÿ”ฐโ€œWhy are you amazed?` They said: โ€œO Messenger of Allah, this one strove harder in worship and then was martyred for the sake of Allah, but the other one entered Paradise before him?โ€ He said: `Did he not remain for a year after (the other one) died?โ€ They said: โ€œYes.โ€ He said:

๐Ÿ’ฅโ€œDid he not live until Ramadan came and fast it?โ€ They said: โ€œYes.โ€ He said: Did he not pray this many rak`ahs during that year? They said: โ€œYes.โ€ The Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) said: โ€œVerily, the distance between them is the distance between heaven and earth.โ€

๐ŸŒ™โ™จ๏ธFASTING IN EXTREME HEATโ™จ๏ธ๐ŸŒ™

โ–โ Saโ€™eed b. Jubayr, the famous scholar and righteous person, said:

โ When สฟAbdullฤh b. สฟUmar (raแธiy Allฤhu สฟanhu) was near death he said:

โ โ€œI have not left anything behind from this world that I am grieved to leave behind other than the thirst of the midday heat (due to fasting) and walking to attend the prayer.

[Ibn Abi Shaybah | vol.7, p.230]
๐Ÿ•Œ Going to the masjid when fasting:

๐Ÿ’  Abul-Mutawakkil Al-Nฤjฤซ reports:

๐Ÿ”ฐWhen Abลซ Hurayrah (Rady'Allahu anhu) and his companions fasted, they would sit in the masjid and say, โ€œlet us purify our fast.โ€

[Hunฤd b. Al-Sarฤซ, Kitฤb Al-Zuhd, article 1207]
โ€ผ๏ธAl Walฤ wal Barฤ (love and hate for the sake of Allah) are key characteristics of every believer in Tawhฤซd.

๐Ÿ’ Ibn Abbas (Rady'Allahu anhu) reported to have said:

๐Ÿ”ฐ"Whoever loves for the sake of Allah, and hates for the sake of Allah, and whoever seals a friendship for His sake, or declares an enmity for His sake, will receive, because of this, the protection of Allah.

No one may taste true faith except by this, even if his prayers and fasts are many. People have come to build their relationships around the concerns of the world, but it will not benefit them in any way.

[Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, Jami' al-Ulum wal Hikam, p.30]
๐Ÿ’ฅThree Acts Whose Rewards Are Beyond Measure

๐Ÿ’ Some deeds are so immense in their virtue that Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) has not specified their reward, leaving it openโ€”without limitsโ€”due to their greatness. These acts are not only means of immense blessings but also reflect the highest levels of faith and character.

1๏ธโƒฃ Pardoning Others

Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in the Qurโ€™an:

‎ููŽู…ูŽู†ู’ ุนูŽููŽุง ูˆูŽุฃูŽุตู’ู„ูŽุญูŽ ููŽุฃูŽุฌู’ุฑูู‡ู ุนูŽู„ูŽู‰ ุงู„ู„ูŽู‘ู‡ู

โ€œBut whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah.โ€ [Qurโ€™an 42:40]

๐Ÿ’ขTo forgive when one has the right to retaliate is a sign of true strength. When we pardon others for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa taala , we entrust our reward to Him aloneโ€”and what He gives in return is beyond human comprehension. The Prophet ๏ทบ, despite facing immense harm, forgave even his greatest enemies, teaching us that forgiveness elevates the soul and brings divine mercy.

2๏ธโƒฃ Patience (Sabr)

Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) promises:

โ€œIndeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.โ€ [Qurโ€™an 39:10]

๐ŸƒPatience in hardship, patience in obedience, and patience in refraining from sinโ€”each form of sabr carries immeasurable rewards. Trials in life are inevitable, but enduring them with faith brings a reward so vast that only Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) knows its true magnitude. It is a trait of the Prophets and the righteous, a means to elevation in this life and the next.

3๏ธโƒฃ Fasting (Sawm)

In a Hadith Qudsi, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) declares:

๐Ÿ’ โ€œEvery act of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting, which is exclusively for Me, and I will reward him for it.โ€ [Bukhari & Muslim]

๐Ÿ”ฐUnlike other deeds, fasting is an act of worship known only between the servant and his Lord. It cultivates sincerity, self-discipline, and a deep connection with Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) . Because of its purity, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) has kept its reward hiddenโ€”reserved for the Day when He will bestow His limitless generosity upon those who fasted for His sake.

๐Ÿ’ฅA Call to Attain the Greatest Rewards

๐Ÿ’ขIf we seek an unlimited reward from Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala), let us embody these virtues:

๐Ÿ’ Forgive, even when we have the right to retaliate.
๐Ÿ’ Be patient, knowing that trials are temporary, but Allahโ€™s reward is eternal.
๐Ÿ’ Fast, not only from food but from sins, distractions, and heedlessness.

Allah subhanahu wa taala grant us sincerity in our deeds and make us among those whose rewards are beyond measure during this month of Ramadan Ameen!
How do we see our sinsโ“

๐Ÿ’ 'Abdullฤh Ibn Mas'ลซd ุฑุถูŠ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู†ู‡ said:

๐Ÿ”"The believer sees his sins as if he is sitting at the foot of a mountain fearing that it might fall on him, while the sinner sees his sins as a fly that lands on his nose, he just waves it away."

[Al-Bukhฤrฤซ, Al-Sahฤซh, The Book of Supplications, Chapter on Tawbah]

๐Ÿ’ Ibn Hajr (Rahimahu'Allah) quotes in his commentary, Fath Al-Bฤrฤซ:

๐Ÿ”ฐIbn Abฤซ Jumrah said, โ€œThe reason for this [fear] is that the heart of a believer is illuminated; so when he sees from himself something that goes against what he illuminates his heart with, it is very distressing to him.

๐Ÿ’ฅThe wisdom behind giving the example of a mountain is that a person might find some way to escape from other dangers, but if a mountain falls on a person he does not survive.

๐Ÿ’ขIn short, the believer is dominated by fear (of Allah) due to the strength of ฤซmฤn he has; he does not therefore feel falsely secure about being punished because of his sins.

๐Ÿ’ This is the way of the Muslim: he always fears and checks on himself, his good deeds are little to him and he fears even the small bad deeds he has done.โ€
๐Ÿ’ Actions Specific to the Last Ten of Ramadan
๐Ÿ’ Haafidh Ibn Rajab al Hanbali,
๐Ÿ’ขLataa-if al Maโ€™aarif feema li Mawaasim al โ€˜Aam min al Wadhaa-if, 207

- used to specify the last ten days of Ramadan with specific actions that he wouldnโ€™t practice during the rest of the month.

๐Ÿ’  Amongst them: Staying up at night, it is possible that what is meant is that he would stay up the whole night, in the Hadith of โ€˜Aa-ishah:

๐Ÿ’  โ€œThe Messenger used to combine between sleep and prayer during the first twenty days, when that last ten came in, he would role up his sleves and tighten his Izaar.โ€ [Narrated by Ahmad]

๐Ÿ’  It is also possible that what is meant is; he used to stay up the majority of the night, this opinion is supported by a Hadith collected by Muslim on the authority of โ€˜Aa-ishah:

๐Ÿ’  โ€œI do not know that he ever stayed up until the morning for even one night.โ€

๐Ÿ’  Amongst them: The Messenger - ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… - used to wake his family for the prayer during the last ten days and not in other nights.

๐Ÿ’  Sufyaan at Thawree stated: Praying Tahajud in [the last part of] the night is beloved to me, and that a person strives in it, and wakens his family and children to pray if they are able.

๐Ÿ’  It has been authentically reported that the Messenger - ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… - used to knock on Faatimah and Aliโ€™s door at night and say to them: โ€œWill you not wake up and pray.โ€ [Collected by both Bukhari and Muslim.]

๐Ÿ’  He used to wake โ€˜Aa-ishah up at night after he finishes praying Tahajud before he prays Witr. An encouragement has been narrated for the spouses, that each one wakes the other and lightly sprays water on their face.

๐Ÿ’  A narration in Muwata Malik states that โ€˜Umar ibn al Khataab used to pray at night what Allah willed him to pray, when the middle of the night approached, he would wake his family to pray and say to them: โ€œThe prayer, the prayer.โ€ and recite this verse:

๐Ÿ’  And enjoin the prayers on your family, and be patient upon them [Taha: 132]

๐Ÿ’  Abu Muhammad, Habeeb al Faariseeโ€™s wife used to say to him at night:

๐Ÿ’ โ€œThe night is passing, ahead of us is a long journey and our provision is scarce, the caravans of the righteous have passed on ahead of us while we remain.โ€

๐Ÿ’  O Sleeping one get up and lay down later,

๐Ÿ’  wake up my beloved, the time has come.

๐Ÿ’  Take from the night and its time,

๐Ÿ’  some remembrance while the sleeping one sleeps.

๐Ÿ’  Whoever sleeps until the night is gone,

๐Ÿ’  when would he reach his home or tire.

๐Ÿ’  Amongst them, is that the Prophet - ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… - used to tighten his Izaar. The scholars differed about its meaning; amongst them are those who said that it is an idiom indicating his eagerness and his efforts in worship, this explanation is not free of scrutiny.

๐Ÿ’  The correct understanding is that it means he used to refrain from [sexual relations with] women. This is how the Salaf and the Imams of the earlier generations explained it, amongst them is Sufyaan ath Thawree.

๐Ÿ’  He mentions in his Tafsir that he would not retire to his bed until Ramadan was over, and in the Hadith of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him: โ€œHe used to forsake his bed and refrain from [sexual relations with] women.โ€

๐Ÿ’  Some of the Salaf explained the saying of Allah:

๐Ÿ’  So now have sexual relations with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you. [Al Baqarah: 187]

๐Ÿ’  They explained that this is due to seeking Laylatul Qadr. The meaning is that when Allah permitted sexual relations with women in the nights of fasting until the dawn becomes clear,

๐Ÿ’  He also ordered the seeking of Laylatul Qadr, so that the Muslims are not busy during the nights of this month with permissible pleasures that would make them miss Laylatul Qadr.

๐Ÿ’  It is from this angle that the Messenger used to have relations with his family during the first twenty days, he would then refrain and free himself to seek Laylatul Qadr in the last ten.

๐Ÿ’  Amongst them; al โ€˜Itikaaf.
In a Hadith collected by both Bukhari and Muslim on the authority of โ€˜Aa-ishah that the Messenger of Allah - ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… - used to practice โ€˜Itikaaf on the last ten days until he passed away. In Sahih al Bukhari on the authority of Abu Hurayrah:

๐Ÿ’  โ€œThe Messenger of Allah used to practice โ€˜Itikaaf for ten days every Ramadan, in the year that he passed away, he practiced โ€˜Itikaaf for twenty.โ€

๐Ÿ’  The Muโ€™takif imprisons himself to the obedience and remembrance of Allah, he cuts off all the issues that distract him, he turns to his Lord and all that draws close to Him with his heart, and nothing remains with him other than Allah and what pleases Him.

๐Ÿ’  The more the knowledge of Allah and love for Him is strengthened, the more a person is able to completely cut himself off from anything other than Allah the Eleveated.
