*كان الشيخ المعروف بالمقدس الأردبيلي أحد علماء النجف الكبار من أهل التقوى والورع ومن شدة ورعه ينقل عنه أنه كان يستأجر دابة من النجف ويذهب إلى الكاظمية وسامراء لزيارة مراقدالأئمة عليهم السلام وحين عودته ربما أعطاه بعض أهل بغداد من الشيعة كتابا أو أمانة ليوصله معه إلى النجف فكان الشيخ يضع الأمانة أو الكتاب في جيبه وينزل من الدابة ويسوقها ويرجع إلى النجف وهو على هذه الحالة ماشيا على قدميه وعندما يُسأل عن ذلك كان يقول إن صاحب الدابة لم يأذن لي أحمل هذه الأمانةََ على دابته...* *ماهذا الورع هل يوجد مثله في زماننا؟*
