Hungary and Slovakia requested consultations from the European Commission due to Kiev's suspension of the transit of Russian oil.

This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyyarto. He added that Budapest considers Kiev's decision hostile, given Ukraine's import of electricity from Hungary.

Transit through Ukraine stopped on July 18. Siyyarto explained that the transit stop violates Kiev's association agreement with the EU.

Hungarian experts suggest that Kyiv's actions could lead to higher energy and electricity prices in the country.
