弗里兰与特鲁多近期因为期两个月的消费税减免以及向每人发放250加元的政策存在分歧。弗里兰认为，加拿大正面临美国当选总统特朗普25%的关税威胁，应保持财政储备，摒弃政治噱头以应对可能的关税战争。
勒布朗在就职后说，他和特鲁将多专注于加拿大人面临的生活成本，并在边境安全和经济问题上与特朗普寻找共识。

It would probably outstrip the interest we saw during the ICO. Why? Because as of right now Telegram looks like a liberal application that can accept anyone - right after WhatsApp and others have turn on the censorship,” he says.
